Unit 2 Cloning Period 4  Listening and Speaking 整体设计 教学内容分析 The emphasis of this period will be placed on listening and speaking.There are altogether two texts for the students to listen to in this period:one is on Page 17 in the Students Book and the other is on Page 57 in the Workbook.The first one is a conversation between two people,Xiao Qing and Rachel.They expressed their ideas about cloning in the conversation.It includes examples of the focus function for this unit:acceptance and refusal.While listening to the dialogue for the first time the students are asked to decide which statements in Exercise 1 are mentioned in the conversation.Then students are required to listen to the tape again and then work with a partner to fill in the chart. The aim of the listening is for students to examine the issue of whether experimenting with animals is cruel or not.This is a moral issue which many people feel very strongly about.So give students a chance to think of their own points of view and make sure they have enough time to do Exercise 3.This will make sure this topic is examined fully. The second one involves cloning mammals.This is an opportunity for students to recognize the issues.This is a light-hearted discussion but it hides some truths.Ask students to listen to the tape and enjoy the story.They will feel it is very interesting. 三维目标设计 Knowledge and skills 1.To understand the meanings of the following key words and expressions while hearing them on the tape:approve of(赞成;满意),reasonable(合理的),unnatural(不自然的),bison(野牛),procedure(过程),stem cell(干细胞). 2.To enable the students to understand the listening texts. 3.To help the students learn how to express their acceptance and refusal. Process and methods 1.Smoothing away language problems if any before listening. Before asking the students to listen to the tape,help them smooth away any language problems such as new words and expressions that they may not understand while listening. 2.Listening for needed information.
