* How to Teach the Reading Material in Module 5 of New Standard English for Senior Students Book Five Made by Yaokexun I.The analysis of the teaching background and material The topic of this Module is about the great sports personality. As we know, personality plays a very important part in people’s life. This reading passage is an exposition which introduces Lining’s sport life and the achievement he got after his retirement. II. Teaching aims: Knowledge objects: Enable the students to master the following words and expressions: background, brand, advantage, retire , perform on the increase, have an advantage over. Ability objects: Improve the students’ reading ability, and the ability to write a short passage to introduce some famous person after learning this passage. Moral objects: Encourage the students to learn from the great sport personality. Let them know that only by working hard can one realize his dream and teach them how to face failure in one’s life. III.
