PURPOSE This test method shall be used to evaluate the abrasion resistance of trim materials used in automobiles. 2. SCOPE This standard specifies the test method which determines the abrasion loss and change of appearance after abrasion of trim materials used in automobiles. 3. DEFINITIONS 3.1. Abrasion : Relative changes of surface of the test material after abrasing under def ined load with a abrasive agent 3.2. Slight superf icial abrasion : Abrasion for a specified time period without causing v isible destruction (e.g. formation of holes) in the test material. 3.3. Destructive abrasion : Abrasion continued until visible partial destruction (formation of holes) of the test material occurs. 3.4. Rubbing off : The mass of material removed from the test piece by the abrasion. 4. TEST PIECES AND NUMBER OF TEST PIECES 2 4.1. Size of test piece : Circular test piece of 100cm 4.2.
