题 目: On the Satirical Art in Gulliver’s Travels 内容摘要 《格列佛游记》是18世纪英国杰出的讽刺作家乔纳森·斯威夫特的代表作。作品的讽刺艺术是杰出的，作者的讽刺手法也是多种多样的，主要有反语、对比、夸张、象征和幽默等。本论文旨在通过结合作品中运用到讽刺艺术的具体实例对作品的讽刺手法和讽刺语气进行分析，从而揭示出该作品所具有的无可比拟的讽刺艺术的层次性。《格列佛游记》包括四卷，各卷相互独立，其中前两卷联系比较紧密， 后两卷则联系不大。第一卷，利立普特小人国实则反映了整个英国朝廷；第二卷，主要叙述了格列佛在大人国的奇遇。第三卷，讲述格列佛在飞岛国的冒险经历。第四卷主要记叙了格列佛在智马国的奇特经历。 关键词：格列佛游记；乔纳森·斯威夫特；讽刺艺术；讽刺 Abstract Gulliver’s Travels is Jonathan Swift’s masterpiece, who was one of the greatest British satirical writers in the 18th century. The satirical art in this fiction is outstanding and the author adopted different kinds of satirical ways, such as irony, contrast, exaggeration, symbol and humor, etc. This essay will focus on exploring the incomparable levels of the satirical art in this fiction through analyzing its satirical ways and different language styles with some detailed examples that use satirical art. Gulliver’s Travels constitutes of four volumes, of which one separates from another. The first two volumes have a closer relation while the latter two ones don’t. In the first volume, the court of Lilliput is the microcosm of the British government. The second volume narrates Gulliver’s adventure in Brobdingnag. In the third volume, Laputa, the flying island, is the symbol of the oppressor and its despotism. The fourth volume tells about the stories of the country of the wise Houyhnhnms.
