DEFINITIONS Nil PROCEDURE 5.1 General 5.1.1 Where the task being undertaken exposes employees and property to fire, appropriate temporary fire protection equipment shall be provided at the workplace. 5.1.2 Lighting of fires is not permitted on the site. Smoking will also be prohibited in work areas identified and sign posted as hazardous areas, eg. chemical / flammable liquid storage areas. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings and vehicles. 5.1.3 Employees shall be adequately trained in the use of the fire fighting equipment and fire prevention techniques. 5.2 Site Establishment 5.2.1 Prior to the establishment of site facilities, the Project Manager shall implement a fuel reduction study to minimise the likelihood of fire. The fuel reduction process shall be maintained for the duration of the project. 5.2.2 All site amenities, offices, workshops, vehicles, plant and storage facilities shall have a suitable type and number of fire extinguishers available for use in the case of a fire. 5.3 Hot Work 5.3.1 Hot work includes any of the following work activities: All forms of welding; Oxy acetylene cutting; Grinding or cutting using abrasive tools. 5.3.2 The Supervisor shall ensure that the following practices are implemented for Hot Work: Persons undertaking Hot Work are accompanied by an assistant whose duties will include that of fire watcher and monitoring of the work area; after
