AbstractAfter decades of development，the hot metal pretreatment has becomeanindispensablestepwhichcouldoptimizethesteelproductionprocessandsaveenergyinsteelmakingprocess.Therefore，thehotmetalpretreatmenttechnologyismoreandmoreimportantintheactualproduction.Thisstudycomesfromthecooperativeproject ofWISCO and HUST: Study of Dynamics in Metallurgical Process -Hot MetalPretreatment System. Mechanical stirring andjet stirring are the twomain methods adopted by WISCO. This thesis studies the mechanical stirringprocess in hot metaldesulfurization.ForthehotmetalmechanicalstirringdesulfurizationprocessofWISCO，thisthesishasdonethefollowingresearchworks:First，Thisthesis uses CFD software FLUENT for numerical simulation，andthenumericalresultsarecomparedwiththewatermodelexperimentalresults，includingtheevolutionofthefreesurface，thedistributionof suspended particles，etc，inorderto validateaccuracyofournumericalsimulationresults.Then，hotmetalmechanicalstirringdesulfurizationprocess inthereal productionlineis simulated，andthefreesurfaceevolutionandthedistributionofthesuspendedparticleseffectsofworkingparametersaresummarized.Thisworkwilllayfoundationsforimprovingtheproductioncapacityandreducing thesteelproductioncostsofWISCO.Numericalresultsarecomparedwithwatermodelexperimentresultsunder17differentworkingconditions，andthenumericalresults，includingtheevolutionofthefreesurface，thedistributionofthesuspendedparticles，etc，areconsistentwiththeresultsofthewatermodelexperiment，withtheerrorslessthan5%.Inaddition，dynamicsofhot metaldesulfurizationwiththree-leafandfour-leafstirrers，aswellasthe100thotmetalladleofNo.2SteelSmeltingPlantandthe200thotmetalladleofNo.4SteelSmeltingPlant，isnumericallystudied.Workingparameters，suchasstirrerinsertiondepth，stirrerspeed，stirrerradius，etc，arevaried，andthenumericalsimulationresultsareanalyzed.Finally，effects of different working parameters on the dynamics of hotmetaldesulfurizationaresummarized.Keywords: hotmetalpretreatment，mechan
