AbstractTheHollowFlangeBeamisauniquecold-formedsteelsectiondevelopedinAustraliaforuseasaflexuralmember.TheHFBismanufacturedfromasinglestripofhighstrengththin-wallsteelbycoldformingandelectricresistancewelding.Becauseofitssectionwithtwotorsionallyrigidclosedtriangularflangesandacomparativelyflexibleweb,itisatypeofhighefficientcrosssection,andtheHFBiswidelyusedinlight-weightsteelstructuresinforeigncountries.Recentyears,ouruniversitypresentedatypeofPentagonHollowFlangeBeam(PHFB),andtheearlierresearchhasidentifiedthatitismoreefficientthanHFBunderuniformbending,becauseofitswidercrosssectionandgreaterflexuralrigidityarounditsminoraxis.ThisthesispresentsafurtherresearchonPHFBsothatwecandrawsomeconclusionsgoodforengineeringapplication.Themaincontentsarelistedasfollows:FiniteelementanalyticalmodelofPHFBunderuniformlydistributedloadsisbuiltup.EigenvalueBucklingAnalysisisperformed,andtheeffectsofthespanlengthonthebucklingmodesofPHFBareanalyzed.NonlinearBucklingAnalysisincludinggeometryandmaterialnonlinearityofPHFBunderuniformlydistributedloadsisconducted.Theload–displacementcurveofPHFBispresented.TherelativeultimatebearingcapacityofPHFBwiththatofHFBiscompared,thenthedifferencebetweenPHFBunderuniformlydistributedloadsandPHFBunderuniformbendingisanalyzed.ThebehaviorofPHFBwithwebstiffenersisinvestigated.TheeffectsonbucklingcapacityofPHFBwithtwowebstiffenersandonultimatebearingcapacityofPHFBwithdifferentnumbersofstiffenersareanalyzed.ParametricanalysisonPHFBunderuniformlydistributedloadsismade.Theeffectsofmaingeometry’sparameterstothebucklingcapacityareanalyzed,andreasonableparametersofgeometryareproposed.ThestaticbehaviorofPHFBundercombinedcompressionandbendingistentativelyexplored.BucklingmodesandbucklingcapacityofPHFBunderconcentricandeccentricloadareanalyzed.KeywordsPentagonHollowFlangeBeam;uniformlydistributedloads;staticbehavior;nonlinearfiniteelementanalysis目录摘要..................................................................................................................
