AbstractWith the worsening of public safety and the environment problem around the world in recent years, the wireless sensor network technology and video surveillance technology have already widely used in the subways, airports, schools, hospitals, businesses, military installations and other places. In order to meet the needs which people can view the remote environment and scene information through the intelligent terminal or PC when and where, the paper designs and implements an embedded multimedia sensing terminal equipment based on TMS320DM368 combined with the wireless sensor network technology and video surveillance technology.Firstly, according to the functional and performance requirements of the sensor terminal equipment, the system is divided into the environmental physical information monitoring subsystem and alarm subsystem, video and audio capture and playback subsystem, multimedia data processing and transmission subsystem.On the basis of extensive research, the paper designs and realizes the embedded multimedia sensing terminal equipment based on TMS320DM368.Secondly, the paper realizes the subsystem of the environmental physical information monitoring and alarm subsystem. The subsystem is divided into the environment physical information monitoring module based on the ZigBee network, the abnormal alarm module based of the TC37 and the microcontroller control module based on the MSP430F169, the following is shown the hardware circuit design and software implementation of the modules.Thirdly, the paper realizes the subsystem of the capture and playback of audio and video, builds the Linux development environment based on the TMS320DM368, complete the hardware circuit design of the audio and video capture and playback unit, designs the drivers and applications program of the audio and video capture.Fourth, the paper realizes the subsystem of the multimedia data processing and transmission, complete the coding of multimedia data, and then builds the mu
