Writer Characters of this book Brief introduction on marriages Jane Austen (16 December 1775 – 18 July 1817) was an English novelist whose realism, biting social commentary and masterful use of free indirect speech间接引语 , burlesque[b?:lesk] and irony have earned her a place as one of the most widely read and best-loved writers in English literature. Austens artistic apprenticeship lasted from her teenage years until she was about thirty-five years old. During this period, she wrote three major novels and began a fourth. From 1811 until 1815, with the release of Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1815), she achieved success as a published writer. She wrote two additional novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, both published after her death in 1817, and began a third, which was eventually titled Sanditon, but died before completing it. Pride and prejudice tells a story about marriages between four pairs. Elizabeth and Darcy Jane Bennet and Bingley Lydia and Wickham Mr. Collins and Charlotte In the beginning, Elizabeth and Darcy were distant from each other because E’s perjudice and Darcy’s proud. The series of events which they both experienced gave them the opportunity to understand each other and the time to reconcile[rek?nsail] their feelings for each other. They fell in love with each other at first sight. But Bingley’s sisters and Darcy all object to their combination. Both of them are too gullible and too good-hearted to act strongly against external forces that may attempt to separate them. But luckily, they gain support and blessings from their friends and family finally. Lydia and Wickhams marriage is an example of bad marriage. Their marriage was based on appearance, youthful vivacity and money. Once these qualities no longer exist, fellings of love will slowly fade away.
