AbstractThe problem of left-behind children is a special social problem of social transition period in our nation. With the increasing process of China’s urbanization, more and more surplus labors in the rural area have migrated to the cities and become peasant-workers. However, in this migrant process, a lot of peasant-workers’ kids cannot go to the cities with their parents. The primary reason is the restriction of Chinese household registration system, and some other reasons such as the peasant-workers’ economic situations, their family situations and so on. According to the latest report published by All China Women’s Federation, there are about 58 million left-behind children in China, and the number has a gradually increasing tendency. The problems of left-behind children might be concluded for several factors: the absent of kindness, the foster care, their educational supervision, and their security.The problems and obstacles of the left-behind children can attribute to the process of their socialization. The most important media in children’s socialization is family. However, the disadvantage of these children consists in their deficiency of family environment. Under this unchanged condition, we should strengthen other social media’s functions to help these children accomplish their socialization. Government and schools have already exerted some methods to resolve these problems.Recent years, NGOs have appeared continuously and already become the third strength that is different from government and market. NGOs have permeated various fields in social life, especially work for those marginal groups. Individuals are easily involved in the predicament of collective activities, while NGOs could play the role of organization. They are also the very significant strength for the solution research of left-behind children.
