Abstract Broadly speaking, the Second Language Acquisition (SLA) concerns with any phenomena involved in learning a second language. In detail, SLA refers both to the study of individuals and groups who are learning a language subsequent to learning their first one as young children, and to the process of learning that language. SLA is considered to the result of language learning environment, individual differences and other social and cultural factors while learning a second language. Besides, the individual differences play a vital role in SLA learning. This paper would talk about the personality, interest and motivation in the individual differences in SLA learning. Key words SLA, individual differences,personality, interest, motivation Body 3.1 Introduction In recent years in China, learning English has been a very prevalent tendency and it has become more and more popular and urgent as China succeeded in many important international events like bidding to hold the 2008 Olympic Games and entering into the World Trade Organization. Mastery of a foreign language, especially English, is viewed as a passport to one’s future success, thus, more and more people swarm into the tide of English learning. For learning English, the non-intelligent factors---- motivation, attitude, interests, age, methods, will and character, etc affect it greatly. To broaden, the factors influence the SLA learning are numerous. And this paper would talk about one factor—individual differences in three aspect: personality, interest, and motivation. 3.2 Personality Learners’ personality is the internal factor in affecting SLA learners. Cattell (1970) divided people’s personality into two extremes, for example, indifference and enthusiasm, shy and audacity. That is Introversion and Extroversion in Eysenck’s opinion. Generally speaking, the introvert do better in SLA that the extrovert. The introverts are sociable, outgoing and enthusiastic; it’s easy for them to use the second languag
