【Review】on Great Gastby

There are plenty of fish in the sea!Many people eulogize Jay Gatsby for his dedication and persistence to his dream-------the reunion with Daisy. But I disagree with them. I think, the dream itself is merely the worthless illusion; the endless waiting of Jay is the elegy. It’s doomed to be a mistake from the very start, for Daisy isn’t the Mrs. Right for Jay. There’re two aspects to explain my point.On the one hand, a satisfying and successful love is based on the shared values.Whereas, their values towards love vary greatly.For Daisy, affection means loving herself. She could love the young and handsome Jay. But when tired of waiting, she also could love Tom who carried her down from the Punch Bowl to keep her shoes dry and gave her rich and decent life. Later, she felt her life was running out of passion and romance when she found she could do nothing about his husband’s infidelities. All of a sudden, Jay reappeared in her life, adding passion and luster to her life, thus, she could love Jay again owing to the long lost romance. In her world, loving herself is not the most important thing, it’s the only thing! She cared nobody but herself. Actually she was inclined to love anyone who could give the things she wanted-------money, vanity and easiness. But who can deny this type of love? Daisy’s love, her realistic and materialistic love, which was so corresponding to that era of hedonism.But for Jay, he was devoted to the affections itself.He rushed headlong into love without hesitation. With regard to him,Daisy was the star twinkling in the sky. Jay could not reach it, but like the mariner, he charted the course by it. Hence, his elaborate blueprint was all related to Daisy. He loved Daisy regardless of 8 years or 18 years. He loved Daisy no matter she was a fair lady or old lady. His love was so great that it could stand the test of time.His zeal for Daisy was not only“forever”, but “whenever” and “wherever”.Nevertheless, not only did his idealism turn his dream i
