Introduction Eastward-moving TPVs mixing with cold air on the ground often cause regional heavy rain processes over Sichuan Province in summer, and when a vortex moves farther eastward out of Sichuan Province, it can also cause heavy rain over the middle and downstream regions of the Yangtze River, as well as over the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, and even over North China 1.
