CONTENTSABSTRACTI摘要IIIABSTRACTWritingisanimportantwayoflanguageoutputandavitalpartofseniorhighEnglishlearning.However,therehavebeenproblemswiththeEnglishcoursebooksofseniorhighwhichwereputintouseinthenewcurriculumreformthatstartedin2004,especiallyinwritingteaching.Thecoursebookshavebeenfoundfailingtoassistseniorwritingteachinginkeepingpacewiththetime,arousingstudents’interestinwriting,integratingthekeyskillsoflistening,speaking,readingwithwriting,presentingproceduralknowledgeorinstructionsonwritinganddevelopingvariousabilitiesofstudents.Asweallknow,theEnglishcoursebook,asavaluablecarrierofteaching,hasadirectinfluenceonstudents’Englishstudy.Therefore,weshouldattachgreatimportancetoenhancingthewritingpartofseniorhighEnglishcoursebooksandtakingallkindsofeffectivemeansofteachingtobetterourwritingteachingclasses.Therefore,thispaperanalyzesthecompilationsystemandthepresentationofknowledgeofHodderEnglishGoldpublishedbyHodderStoughtoninordertofigureoutthecharacteristicsofthecoursebookandtopromoteseniorhighwritingteachingmethods.HodderEnglishGoldhasbeencompiledinaccordancewiththeNationalCurriculumofEnglandandhasbecomeabelovedcoursebookoftheteachersinEngland.Inthiscoursebook,largequantitiesofteachingmaterialsandcasesareofferedtoEnglishteachers,whocanchoosesomeofthecontentorusethewholesetdirectlyaccordingtotheirneedinteaching.HodderEnglishGoldisasetofthreecoursebooks.Thispaperanalyzestheframeworkandthecontentsystemofeachcoursebook.Asforthelattersystem,thepaperdiscussesthetextsystem,help-readingsystem,knowledgesystemandoperatingsystem.Andbasedontheanalysis,conclusionsaredrawnaboutthecharacteristicsofthecoursebooksofbeing:1)focusingonproceduralknowledge,2)integratingwritingandotherkeyskills,3)enhancingthereadabilityandmakingadifferencewithallsortsofillustrations,and4)beingstudent-orientedincompilation.Inaddition,withtheconclusionsonthecharacteristicsandmeritsofHodderEnglishGold,especiallythoseonthewell-designedwritingpart,implicationsforseniorhighEnglishwritingteachingarereached
