Common basic characteristics of modern equipment are briefly discussed on a basis of the increasing trend of safety re quirement in modern human civilization and sustainable development. he theoretical foundation of this discipline and the development trend of its research about the design methodology of modern e quipment are also described. he general definition and the definition in narrow sense, its major re search content and goal, and the theoretical and knowledge structure of safety equipment are systemat ically discussed in detail.
