DEL VALLE VULTURE VENTURE 30/50-MILE ENDURANCE RIDE and 15 mile Fun Ride OCTOBER 13, 2007 Welcome to the fifth running of the Del Valle Vulture Venture. Del Valle Regional Park is nestled in the hills south of Livermore, Ca. We are excited to offer this ride for its variation in terrain and for the advantages this park has to offer families for a truly wonderful fall adventure. Our trail offers the 50-mile rider a challenging ride and the limited distance rider a scenic and enjoyable trail. For visiting family members, Del Valle offers excellent fishing, hiking, swimming, and boat rentals. The surrounding area offers local wine tasting, golf courses, and shopping. Camp: Base Camp is at 750-ft elevation and is located at the Caballo Loco Horse camp, in a large field with ample parking. No amenities or hookups. Ample horse water is available, but no people water – please bring your own supply. Camp will be open on Friday, October 12, 2007, at noon. You are welcome to stay on until Sunday, but must pay for an additional night. The Trail: As a rider you will be rewarded with panoramic views of Mount Diablo and the Pleasanton-Livermore Valley. All loops offer riders and their horses a scenic trail along the Del Valle Lake to the dam and back with excellent footing. This a challenging trail, so a well-conditioned horse is recommended. Clipping is advisable if weather stays hot. Special 15 Mile Fun Ride for beginners! Do a practice Endurance Ride! See the special section on the Fun Ride for information. This ride is limited to 25 riders. Veterinary Service: Melissa Ribley, DVM, is our Head Veterinarian. Finishing criteria will be “Fit to Continue”. All vet checks wi11 be “gates into hold”, with a 60-pulse requirement, unless vet staff determines otherwise. Horses must meet this criterion within 30 minutes of arrival at check or be disqualified.
