ABSTRACT A multitude of excellent experimental architects and their designs have developed their own trend since the Experimental Architecture began in the early 1990 ’s. Meanwhile, with the development of science and technology, contemporary Western Pioneer Building also has its own development with the aid of digital technology and multidisciplinary collaboration. Western Pioneer Building is in the striking contrast to the Neo-modern Architecture in research methods and forms. With the promotion of the globalization and the development of the construction industry, the experimental architects have diversified thoughts after absorbing the Neo- modern Architecture and exploring architecture noumenon, which makes the Chinese experimental architecture enter into post experimental architecture era. Based on the above standpoints, the paper consists of six chapters. In chapter one, the Pioneer Building and Experimental Architecture is defined. In chapter two and three, the development status of contemporary Chinese Experimental Architecture and Western Pioneer Building is analyzed. In chapter four, under the background of the Western Pioneer Building, the difference between the Experimental Architecture and the Western Pioneer Building is explained. Furthermore, the problems and misunderstanding are clarified. In chapter five, the transformation of Experimental Architecture into the contemporary architecture is illustrated. Moreover, the analysis of transformation is stated from the aspects of architects and their design and market strategies.
