In the composition of news, headline is the part and parcel. Therefore, an excellent headline can attract people and move them. In an effort to present a better understanding of English news headline, this paper introduces the definition, development and functions of English news headline as well as providing a comprehensive expatiation on the features of English news headline from lexical, grammatical, rhetorical devices and punctuation, with a great number of examples. At the last part, the paper summarizes the language features of English news headline.
