英文中比喻性词语的文化内涵及翻译策略 Abstract In the constant communication on global cross-culture, we increasingly realize the constraints of our academic research in cross-cultural communication. As a tool to express and communicate our thoughts and feelings, language is no exception. The concept of metaphor plays an important role in the process of human’s understanding and reforming the world. Its birth and development has interrelationship with that of culture. The similarity of metaphor in different languages is based on human’s common function of physiology and psychology, living environment, etc. and the culture-specific aspects such as the particular religion, custom, history, and geography, turn out to be the main cause of the different usage of metaphor in Chinese and English language. The thesis thus deals with talked about the research of cultural connotation on metaphorical words, also involves the concept of metaphor in English and by comparing and discussing the difference of presentation on metaphorical words under the cultural connotation , including correspondence of cultural connotation, parallelism, vacancy, conflict of cultural connotation, it is easy to understand the characteristics of the two cultures and the general trend and significance in cross-cultural communication and mutual relations.
