Study and Simulation on Variable Frequency Speed- Regulating System of Mine Hoist Based on PLC Fuzzy Control Yanxiang WU , Zhanfei Tian College of Engineering, Shanghai Ocean University Shanghai, China Minjie Xue Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney NSW, Australia Abstract— Based on the traditional speed control technology for the Mine Hoist system, this paper introduces a new method to control the speed of AC induction motor by combining the fuzzy controller using the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and the general frequency inverter. The proposed method makes the system more reliable, stable as well as intelligent,and is expected to have a promising future. The simulation is carried out under the SIMULINK environment in order to optimize the system performance. Keywords— PLC; Mine Hoist; Fuzzy Control; Simulink I. INTRODUCTION Nowadays, as to the time variant of the speed control of mine hoist in mining industry, it is becoming more common to control the velocity of mine hoist by jointly using PLC and frequency inverter. However, it is difficult to build the mathematical model for the speed controller and implement the automatic control because of its nonlinear characteristic. The fuzzy control theory, which is an intelligent control theory, solves the problem properly. Fuzzy control is based on the practical experience of operating the control object. The internal structure and mathematical model of the control object is not necessary for the fuzzy control, which is very beneficial to the automatic control of variable frequency speed-regulating of mine hoist. As another important element in the control system, PLC has strong function commands and cooperates various functional modules, which makes it possible for PLC to support many complicated process control systems.
