Message to CCA 13th General AssemblyFrom Pre-Assembly ForumPeople Living with HIV and AIDSBackgroundThe Pre-Assembly Forum of People Living with HIV and AIDS met in the Dynasty Hotel Kuala Lumpur 10-13 April 2010 this was the first of its kind for CCA. Advocacy and capacity building in the area of HIV and AIDS ministry has been an important part of CCA since the early 1990’s. Fifty five participants comprising People Living with HIV, care givers, pastors, theologians, medical professionals, social workers, community organisers, and consultants together listened to each other’s experience and story and identified the need for the Church to engage further in reflection and develop a theological perspective of health healing and wholeness for the 21st Century.Our Asian ContextHIV is amidst us with approximately 4.7 million people living with HIV and AIDS in Asia. The pandemic continues to intensify due to poverty, gender inequalities, growing migration, human trafficking, conflicts, silence and discrimination. In the Asia region HIV is becoming an increasing concern for women, children young people and refugees. In this context we celebrate our diversity. God has blessed Asia with many religions and cultures. HIV and AIDS have no barriers and one religious community cannot bring healing in isolation. We affirm that this is an opportunity to work together with all people in the healing ministry of God. To be engaged in this healing ministry is a missiological imperative. The Good News for AllRepeatedly we recognised the importance of the Good News to the Church as Easter People. The ministry of Jesus Christ shows and reminds us that God is;Welcoming like the Father, accepting us with our brokenness and inadequacies, as he embraced the prodigal son; (Luke 15:20-23)Accompanying and walking with us in our unbelief and lack of vision, as he did on the road to Emmaus; (Luke 24:13-32)Washing the feet of his disciples as a servant leader; being sensitive to the needs of peop
