With the approaching marketing economy of the 21st century and advocation of quality education, Wuhan Youth Palace is popularizing, but the coordinating planning construction methods and the actual effects are not obvious, revealing the deficiency in research and planning of this kind in architectural industry. Consequently, research on this category of architecture would be indispensable and urgent at this time. During the past half century, Wuhan Youth Palace has exhibited its critical role in education outside school for teenagers. Due to restrictions from society, economy, culture and managerial system, planning and construction remains relatively lagging behind with various problems like low efficiency in application, incomplete functions and scarcity in places for outdoor activities. As a public cultural education institution, how to build up a Youth Palace catering to teenagers’ needs should be a task for us to conduct researches on scrupulously. This paper mainly discusses the development of Wuhan Youth Palace architecture, which demonstrates the whole process of architectural development from the perspective of history with historical route as the principle line so as to enhance understanding of the features of palace architecture in different periods systematically. The thesis briefly narrates the history, alteration of functions and evolution of this architecture in the new era by illustrating historical changes of architectural development of Youth Palace. The development of the architecture is divided into four stages-the preliminary stage, exploration stage, dilemma stage and new era on the basis of historical evolvement, based on which the evolvement of development, geographical distribution and architectural features are studied.
