PAGE PAGE IV Abstract Wireless sensor network based on ZigBee is a short-range communication technology. It features very low latency, power-consumption and cost. It’s more reliable with high-capacity and has potential to be “ubiquitous network candidate”. This technology has been widely applied in many fields in society. Wireless sensor network based on ZigBee offers us numbers of problems and challenges in basic theoretical research and engineering realization. Its network management is one of the important research interests. Effective management can improve operational reliability, efficiency and monitoring capabilities of the networks. Network management is the research focus. Wireless sensor network manage- ment system model is studied and an effective, reliable network management system based on ZigBee protocol is designed to implement monitoring and management of network status. The works done in this paper are listed as below: Analysis of wireless sensor network management status quo. The framework and contents of wireless sensor network management is introduced. Two typical frameworks “MANNA sensor network management framework and distributed sensor network management framework based on agent” are studied offering some references to design and implementation of ZigBee Wireless Sensor Management System. The research about ZigBee protocol stacks. Nodes in this network management system communicate according to the ZigBee protocol. Nodes’ self-organization and stable communication are particularly important. Therefore, the protocol stack and the standards of each layer are deeply studied. Chengdu Wireless Dragon hardware platform CC2430/CC2431 is utilized to design ZigBee wireless sensor network management system model including user management subsystem, coordinator subsystems and terminal / routing node subsystems.
