Stress Relief What is Stress? Stress just refers to your bodys reaction to any CHANGES in your Life. Too much stress can be bad for our health. Stress is one of the leading causes of illness, even though most people dont realize it. But stress is unavoidable. Our everyday routines are lined with stress. How much stress is too much? The answer is not clear. But today we can try to relieve some of our stress and have a good time … ? Emotional Stress When arguments, disagreements, and conflicts cause CHANGES in your personal life -- that is stress. BB: “Why do you complain to me all the time!?” GB: “Because you are lazy! You need to work harder!” Pushing Your Body Too Hard If you are working (or partying) 16 hours a day, you will have reduced your available time for rest. You will hit the wall, run out of gas. Illness Catching a cold, breaking an arm, a skin infection, a sore back, are all CHANGES in your body condition. Environmental Factors Very hot or very cold climates can be stressful. Anything that causes CHANGE IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE is stressful. Anything that causes CHANGE IN YOUR BODY HEALTH is stressful. IMAGINED CHANGE (worry) is just as stressful as real change. Research shows that if stress levels are elevated for long periods of time, the bodys response to stress can bring about life threatening diseases including obesity and high blood pressure. Job-related stressors may give people health risks: Having no participation (control) in decisions that affect ones responsibilities. Lack of effective communication and conflict-resolution methods among workers and employers. Lack of Job Security. Long work hours, night-shift work, or both. Wages are not satisfying. Relieving Job Stress If your employer expects too much of you, and its starting to take its toll on you, chill out and find ways to rejuvenate. Modify your job situation so it is more appealing and satisfying.. Make time to get away. If you feel the stress building, take a break. Fi
