Events and conditions that trigger stress, whether physical, social, or psychological, are called stressors. Although the recognition of the contribution of stress to health problems has given the word a negative connotation, stress results not just from negative stressors but from any change in our lives and may sometimes help us perform better. Selye calls the more extreme kinds of stress eustress, when resulting from positive stressors, or distress, when from negative stressors. Lesson Two Stress and Health
