Translation Process during Project Execution 2. Revision Parameters After initial translation (either human translation followed by self-checking or automatic translation by a computer, called machine translation, followed by post-editing by a human) a translation that is intended for publication is typically revised and reviewed. Revision is a bilingual process involving a comparison of the source text and the target text, while review is a monolingual process involving an examination of the target text by a subject matter expert. Revision parameters are the things a reviser checks for--the types of error. An exhaustive listing of things that can go wrong when translating would be very long indeed. However in order to think about and discuss revision, it is convenient to have a reasonably short list of error types. Group A - Problems of meaning transfer (Transfer) 1.
