They have to supply high quality service、lower profit rate and offer more kinds of choices to customers with quick reaction. So every part of the transportation chain, including shipping lines, freight forwarders and warehouse operations? are trying to improve their competitive advantages by offering logistics service. As a pivot node, port plays an important role in the transfer of the transportation modes and is the best site for storing and logistical processing. The important significance of a port on the whole chain of international tradingleads to the emergence, further development and prosperity of port logistics. The various services of port logistics includes: warehousing， forwarding , consolidation de-consolidation，loading discharging，Packing unpacking, inner-land transportation, JIT delivery, and related information services. This paper has six parts as follows: Chapter I is the preface which firstly introduces the research background -”-the overview of our country port logistics industry development, then lists the related research findings of development strategies of port logistics, and finally explains the purpose and meaning of the thesis. Chapter II introduces the general situation of modem ports and logistics. First the paper gives out the definition, classification and basic characters of ports* it also illustrates the developing tendency of modem ports; Them it introduces the present condition and the primary tendency of inodern logistics at home and abroad and the characters and functions of logistics industry.
