Language Structure You’ll see John when you go to Beijing next week. (The adverbial clause of time introduced by when, 由when引出的时间状语从句) 注意:主句表示将来时间,状语从句中用一般现在时表示将来时,这一原则适用于由when, after, before, as, as soon as, till, until等引导的时间状语从句。 (1)Ill call him after I get to the school. (2)I’ll meet you at the theater as soon as the rehearsal is over. Will you go to see him before you leave? (The adverbial clause of time introduced by before: 由before引出的时间状语从句) I’ve been playing the piano since I was a child. (The adverbial clause of time introduced by since,由since引出的时间状语从句) 4. He won’t arrive until four, and I’ll wait until he arrives. (The adverbial clause of time introduced by until, 由until引出的时间状语从句) until till until和till两词都意为“直到”,引出一个表示一段时间的状语,两个词用法相近,但在句首就只能用until. The baby sitter took care of the girl until her parents came home. The baby sitter didn’t leave the girl until her parents came home. He ate until it was dark. (When it was dark, he stopped eating.) He did not eat until it was dark. (When it was dark, he began to eat.) when, while, as ①当从句表示动作持续一段时间,即从句要用进行时时,可由when, while, as引出,如: He entered the room when / while / as the meeting was going on. When she comes, I shall tell her to wait for you. As / When he finished the speech, the audience burst into applause. While / As Jim was reading, Jack was writing. As soon as … as soon as意为“一…就…”,表示相同意思的还有once, the moment, the minute, the second等。 和no sooner … than …,也表示“一… As soon as / the moment they began eating, the rain poured down. They had hardly begun eating when the rain poured down. They had no sooner begun eating than the rain poured down.
