Based on the relationship between elastic constants and sound velocities in composite material and measuring very few velocities of different propagation direction, the elastic constant matrix can be calculated out. T aking the composite insulator as a measurement sample, knowing the waveform con version condition on the boundary, only a conventional longitudinal testing probe is needed to meas urement transverse wave produced by grazing incidence longitudinal wave.
