GeologicalBulletin ofChina,2015,34(4):792-801 Abstract: Accordingtodifferentstratigraphicsystems,sedimentologicalpalaeography,palaeo-biogeographicprovincesystemand magmaticcycles,theSumatraIslandcantectonicallybedividedintotwotypesofforeignterrain：EastSumatraTerrain（Gondwanaaf⁃ finity）andWestSumatraTerrain（Cathaysiaaffinity）.Theregularitiesofpaleographicevolutionandplatetectonicmovementofthe twodifferenttypesofterraincontroltheregionaldistributionofmetallicstratabounddeposits.Themagmaticintrusionattheconti⁃ nentalvocanicarccontrolstheformationanddistributionofHercynian-Indonsinianmetal-oredeposits，whereasYanshanianmetal⁃ licdepositsarerelatedtotheriftingmagmaticintrusionordeepseaextension（mantlebulge）.TheCenozoicAu-Agmetallicdeposits aredistributedalongthehugeSumatra-Barisanfaultandcontrolledbythemagmaticactivityatthecontinentalvolcanicarc.
