Lesson 4 Advertisement
Objectives:
1. To learn how to use the vocabulary on advertisement
2. To use proper language to describe and express their opinions, attitudes and emotions
3. To understand the text and can get the important information according to the
requirement.
4. To use proper language to present the result of their discussion
5. To use proper language to make a role play in certain situation
Teaching Process
Step 1 : show the pictures and then students make sentences.
Products: electric toothbrush, laptop computer, mobile phone, mp3, e-dictionary, radio alarm clock
Example: I think the electric toothbrushes are not very practical
Key words: cheap convenient easy (to use) expensive practical reliable useful useless
Step 2 : scanning
T : As we know, if you want to let people know your product, the most common way is to put on an advertisement on TV or on newspaper or internet. Today, we are going to read four advertisements on internet. As the topic of this unit is money, we’ll focus on money at first. Please scan the text and find out the price of each product.

Step 3 : reading strategies
T: In order to attract the customers, an advertisement not only tells the facts of the products but also use their own opinions to affect our opinions. We should learn how to distinguish facts from opinions. Before we start, let’s learn the reading strategies.
Facts and opinions
1).To find opinions look for adjectives (e.g. amazing/ attractive).
2).Facts give information which is, in theory, true. (e.g. has an automatic focus)
☆ divide the whole class into four groups. Each group is in charge of one product. Then find some facts and opinion from the advertisements.
