 PAGE 6 Abstract Urban landscape woods, one type of Urban forest, provide an important role for city environment in both of ecological effects and landscape aesthetics, such as purify the atmosphere, block dust, alleviate heat-island effect, conserve water, fixate carbon and release oxygen, beautify the city and so on. In this paper, based on field survey for urban landscape woods in Hefei city area, author distinguished community types of landscape woods, meanwhile the species composition, community structure and stand characteristic, community characteristic value was accounted, and using I-tree tools the ecological effects and carbon storage function were estimated as well. Then construction cost and annual benefit for different  HYPERLINK /community community types of landscape woods were compared. The writer generalized community types of high value and proposed advices for the constructions of urban landscape woods. The results can provide theoretical reference for sustainable development of urban landscape woods and prompt healthy development of the city greening. The chief results were as follows: Based on survey for typical communities in different function areas, such as parks, residential areas, college  HYPERLINK /campus campus and roads, total 111 tree species were identified, which belonged to 45 families and 81 genus. The major dominant were Cinnamomum camphora, Pterocarya stenoptera, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Bischofia polycarpa, Populus canadensis, Osmanthus fragrans, Photinia serrulata etc. Species richness index of the named landscape woods in the study area was college campus residential areas roads parks in order; Simpson diversity index and Shannon-wiener diversity index were parks college campus residential areas roads.
