初二英语教案   Background information:   Students: 40 Junior high school students, Grade1 Lesson duration: 40 minutes   Teaching objectives:   By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. Learn the skills of skimming the main idea. 2. Learn the skills of scanning the specific information. 3. Get the correct information from the text. 4. Extract some extended information of the text. Teaching contents:   1. western table manners   2. eating habits in different countries   Teaching aids: blackboard, chalk, PPT, tableware. Type of the lesson: vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading,   discussing   Teaching procedures:   Step1. Warm up. (6 minutes)   a) Review the words:   Words:   spoon fork chopstick napkin glass knife plate   b) Show the picture and ask the students “what can you see in   the picture?” and “are they used in western meal or Chinese meal?”   c) Conclusion: tell the students “there are some different table   manners among different countries. For example, In Japan, it’s polite to   eat so noisily, but it’s impolite to do it in Cuba.”     Step2. Learn the new passage. (20 minutes)   a) Show the title of the passage and ask the students to predict.   Title: Western Table Manners   b) Ask the students to skim and summarize the passage.   Passage:   Western Table Manners   If you go to a formal western dinner party for the first time, you’d better know about western table manners. It’s polite to follow them.   When you sit down at the table, take your napkin and put it on your lap. The dinners always starts with a small dish. When you start eating, you should keep the fork in your right hand. If you use you knife, then put the fork in your left hand. It’s polite to eat up the food on your plate, so don’t take more food than you need.
