Abstract Abstract In recent years，with the sustainable development of the Internet technology and information management technology,the design，construction and maintenance of the library information management system are increasingly important．The users of college libraries have put forward higher requirements for the library information management systems：faster book searching function，rapid positioning，good interface，supporting for mobility．The information in the library management system is very complicated，including book resources，the status of the dynamic management of library resources，reader information，etc．A library management system with high performance，good user interface，strong real-time performance，and supporting mobility management is of urgent demand to save up librarians’time and improve the management efficiency． This thesis first demonstrates the purpose of developing the library management system by showing the present situation of the library management system used in foreign and domestic universities and pointing out the disadvantages of traditional library management system．The second part of this thesis gives a brief introduction to some relevant technologies such as software engineering，database technology and Java．The following part is a detailed demand analysis on library management system based on software engineering．Later,an overall design and implementation of the library management system，including the system architecture，major function modules and database，will be presented．At last，the whole system will be tested to ensure its usability． The thesis attends to the design and implementation of the library management system based on UML technology,the object-oriented theory and the principles of software engineering．The development of this system adopts SSH(user-defined structs+spring+hibernatel framework and the Oracle database technology．The design and implementation of the library management system has an important practical signific
