Introduction: The main transport documents used in international trade is the bill of lading. There are four functions of a bill of lading: 1. Acting as a receipt for the goods from the shipping company to the exporter. 2. Being evidence of the contract  of carriage between the exporter  and the carrier. 3. Being a quasi negotiable documents. Original bills of lading are usually issued in sets of two or three and the number of originals will be indicated on the bill of lading. Shipping companies often issue unsigned copies of the bill of lading for record purpose. These unsigned copi
