School of Civ ilEng ineering, H arbin Engineering University, H arbin 1 0001, China) A bstract: The problem of SH-w ave scattering, wh ich is caused by a removable rigid cylindrical inclusion near the interface of elastic half space, is stud ied in this paper. The methods of complex variables and mu lti-polar coord-i nates are used here. The scatteringw ave function wh ich can satisfy the cond ition of stress free on the horizontal sur- face around a removable rigid cylindrical inclusion in half space is constructed, and the expression of scattering w ave can be determ ined by virtue of the boundary conditions of removable rigid cylindrical inclusion. The problem can be reduced to a solution of algebraic equations and solved numerically by truncating the fin ite terms of the inf-i n ite algebraic equations. F inally, the numerical resu lts of horizontal surface d isplacement are given and discussed in the case of different parameters. K ey words: scattering of SH-w ave; elastic half space; removable r
