Objective To eval ate the efficacy and safet y of two kinds of hydrotalcite, Weidimei and T alcid, in treating bile refl x gast ritis. Methods Thirty patients w ith bile refl x gastritis confirmed by en doscopy were eq ally divided into experimental gro p (Weidimei) and control gro p ( Talcid) . The patients w ere given Weidimei or T alcid both at the dose of 1.0 g 3 t imes a day for 4 weeks, respectively. The severit y of the symptoms incl ding abdominal pain, reg rgitation, na sea and vomiting of bile w ere investigated before and after the treatment . T wentyfo r ho r bile in stomach w as monitored. Results T he severity of all symp toms greatly decreased after the treatment in two gro ps ( P 0. 05) . The total efficiency was 100% . The mean disappearance time of abdominal pain w as ( 7. 2 ∀ 3. 1) days in experimental gro p, and ( 6. 9 ∀ 4. 8) days in control gro p . The total fraction time of bile refl x decreased from ( 17. 0 ∀ 16. 3) % to (4. 9 ∀ 4. 5) % ( P 0. 05) in experimental gro p, and from ( 16. 8∀ 6. 9) % to ( 3. 2∀ 2. 3) % in control gro p ( P 0. 05) .
