On the Hydrographical Survey Schematic of Southern Channel of Tianjin port Abstract Hydrographical survey is a key segment of channel digging, it is very important for the proper organization of channel digging, quality monitoring and controlling, controlling of process, and so on. Precise channel survey is of significance, it can provide reliable technical insurance, and it can also give valuable data to the calculation of engineering quantity as well as construction of navigational aids, dredging of channel, and publication of hydrographic chart. Now, marine survey is easier, more flexible, and more precise with the using of GPS. This paper makes a deep study on hydrographical survey scheme of southern port of Tianjin. The content of study includes the current situation of channel survey, national and international requirements on channel survey, comparing of three typical sounding instruments. An analysis on the location, hydrographic condition, meteorological condition and navigation condition is made. Then it presents that Oct of every year is the most suitable period for the survey of this port. A method for channel survey is provided according to the direction of this channel as well as construction program. At the same time, the importance of preparation for channel survey is pointed out.
