In th is study, Program F 3D developed in Japan is used to calcu late S 3D safety factors and residual slide pressure of the landslidemodels established on the basis of the geom etric data of the common landslides. Through the comparison of the resu lts obtained from 3D stability analysisw ith those from 2D stability analysis, the influence of landform, soil strength parameter and groundw ater on the d ifference betw een the results from 3D and 2D stab ility analysis, is clarified and is also confirm ed in landslide cases. The resu lts from landslide model studies and case analyses show that the superiority of 3D slope stab ility analysis isw ell reflected in the landslide typew ith complicated topographic forms and the type w ith main section difficult to judge.
