Abstract: The theories of comparative literature have undergone three
major stages of development , namel Influence Stud , Parallel Stud and
Cross-cultural Stud , thus giving form to the Rippling Theor Structure,
which implies a cascading and progressive development . The French
School and the American School have constructed their own theoretical
s stems, which, however, are still rather restricted. T he Chinese
School, as this article holds, shall endow the studies of comparative litera-
ture with the real global view and mentalit b embracing heterogeneous
cultures.
