Abstract With the development of communication technology, mobile phones, personal digital assistants and other mobile devices have been integrated into peoples lives. While the processing power of these mobile devices is growing, they still can not completely replace personal computers. Remote desktop monitor and control system provides a combination of the convenience of mobile devices and the processing power of personal computers. Currently, however, all remote desktop monitor and control systems are based on personal computers, not on mobile devices which have great differences in hardware devices and network environment from personal computer applications. The paper, in full consideration of the specificity of mobile devices, will analy the way to develop mobile platform and will make a remote desktop monitor and control system with JAVA. The system is divided into the mobile client and the server-side. The mobile client is based on J2ME platform. It designes and achieves the founctions of remote controling and monitoring and so on for mobile phones which have limited processing power and Strictly limited screen size, and takes good care of the user experience. Taking into account the limited capacity of the client computing, the expensive cost of network connectivity, the server-side takes a lot of computing tasks, uses incremental updates and data compression, designs and achives user login authentication, desktop update, user simulation and so on. In the paper, the remote desktop monitor and control system is achieved. The system passes the simulator and the real machine tests. It is proved to be efficient in real-time monitoring, controling and so on, maintaining the volume of network traffic data in an acceptable range. It is with high value.
