(such 指代后文中的the impression of England) (三)Such:用作宾语(object) eg: Since you are a scholar ,you should show yourself as such.(such=one,即a scholar,用作as的宾语） eg: Their criticism of me ,if it was intended for such ,was offered in a gentle and mild way. (such 代指a criticism,用作for的宾语) (四)： Such:用作表语(predicative) A:Such 往往倒置于句首，有时也用于句中。 eg: Such are the viewpoints of my friends on life ( =The viewpoints of my friends are such on life.) Such 用于系动词之后，做表语 B:和that或as引导的从句一起用(从句在后）。 eg: The issue is not such as can be easily mediated.
