It connects Guangzhou to the east and is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao to the south, with convenient geographic location and easy access transportation to extending to all directions. With mild climate and adequate rainfall, Foshan is of humid subtropical monsoon climate. It is an abundant place with rich resources since ancient times. Foshan governs five districts, i.e. Chancheng District, Nanhai District, Shunde District, Gaoming District and Sanshui District. Foshan covers an area of 3,848.49 square kilometers and has a population of 5,996,800 including 3,676,300 registered permanent residents. Its GDP in 2009 reached 500 billion yuan, ranking the 11th place among China’s large and medium-sized cities, and its GDP per capita surpasses 11,000 US dollars.
