格拉斯哥学院院长在新生开学典礼上的讲话稿 　　尊敬的熊彩东副校长，尊敬的中英双方各位来宾、各位老师，亲爱的同学们及家长们：大家早上好! 　　Respected Vice President Xiong Caidong, distinguished guests, professors and staffs, dear students of 2018 Class and your parents, good morning. 　　今天，我们在这里隆重举办电子科技大学格拉斯哥学院2018级新生开学典礼。我谨代表我院全体同仁，向选择格拉斯哥学院的2018级新生们，向你们的爸爸妈妈，也向专程前来参加典礼的各位领导、来宾表示衷心的感谢和热烈的欢迎! 　　Today, we gather here to hold the opening ceremony for the 2018 Class our Glasgow College in the most solemn way. On behalf of all my colleagues, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to all students in the 2018 Class who have come to our college. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks and welcome to all the parents and guests! 　　大约一个月前，我在美国阿拉斯加安卡雷奇参加一个国际会议，会后几位朋友相约登山，上下来回近20公里，旨为一睹千万年前形成的冰川，感受其宏大、壮丽美景带来的视觉及心灵震撼，并升华为精神物质。艰辛的过程和美好的愿景交互，让我强烈感受到了当年攀登珠峰第一人乔治·马洛里(George Mallory)回答“为何要攀登珠峰”时留给登山界最著名的名言 ndash; 因为山在那儿(Because it”s there)! 　　About one month ago, I attended an international conference in Anchorage, Alaska, USA. After that, I went mountain climbing with several friends. We traversed 20 kilometers of ragged trial to enjoy the million-year-old glaciers in all their magnificence. The visual and spiritual impact was so great that I felt a tremor of shock deep within.
