The The Study on the Design of Animal Landscape in the Zoo Author：Zhang Lei Major：Landscape Architecture Supervisor：Prof．Li Guoqing Abstract Since ancient times．humans and animals are inextricably linked，and animal landscape also has been used as a special form of ornamental landscape by human．Along with the development of society，and the rising level of the national economy，and the high construction of ecological civilization，the needs of spiritual and cultural from the people are growing too．The vision to get close to nature，and the will to retum nature are increasingly strong．Animals，the most natural bridge between the human and nature， whose unique intrinsic value attracts tremendous attention．Currently，the study of the animal landscape in China iS more focused on ecology or traditional culture，while the western academics tend to explore more specialized animal landscape from the ZOO industry about the animal welfare and the animal ecology．So the domestic animal landscape design concept is lagging behind． The author aims to put the animals and their environments as the research subjects， based on previous studies，by figuring out the evolution history of the animal landscape，the characteristics of the animal landscape was generalized in different period，and by taking apart the basic elements of animal landscape in ethics，psychology，behavioral science，and other social science，the paper obtains the moral principles and the methods of the way how people and animals get along harmoniously，and the matters needing attention．The paper analyzes the ZOO from urban ZOO and safari ZOO two aspects，specifically，and it makes an analysis from Beij ing zoo and Beij ing safari ZOO based on real cases，and by the method of questionnaire，figuring out the cognition of visitors about the animal landscape design as well as tourists tendentious investigation about the experience of animal landscape．It Can be summarized that the poor mental status of animals，and the unfriendly eco
