A Ghost Story In 1938, the Carr family moved into an old house in Wiltshire, They had not been living in the house for long before the two young girls in the family, Frances, 10, and Janet, 7, saw a ghost. A young girl dressed all in white suddenly appeared as if from nowhere and came quite close to the children. However, as soon as they spoke to her, she disappeared. At first, Mrs. Carr thought her two little girls were telling lies and she scolded them. It was not until she saw the ghost herself that she believed them. She saw the ghost one day while she was sitting in the garden with a friend. She heard the gate open, looked up and saw a small girl wearing a white dress walk up the path and go into the house. Soon afterwards, the girl came out of the house and walked away. When the maid brought out tea for Mrs. Carr and her friend, Mrs. Carr asked her about the girl. The maid said that no one had entered the house. After this, the Carr family saw the ghost on a number of occasions. She was usually on her own, but sometimes she was with an old man. Some years later, the Carr family moved away from the house. It was empty for a few years, then, in 1953, it was demolished. While they were demolishing it, workmen found a cupboard that had been bricked up. Beneath the floorboards of the cupboard, they found the skeleton of a young girl and the pieces of a white dress.
