Bad Luck Rudolph Valentino was a famous film star in the 1920s. He once wanted to buy a particular silver ring that had a semi-precious stone in it. The jeweler warned him against the ring, telling him that it had a curse on it. Whoever owned the ring would have bad luck. Valentino did not believe him and he bought the ring. He wore it during the making of his next film, The Young Rajah. The film was a complete failure. Valentino put the ring away and went on to make many successful films. By 1926, he had forgotten all about the curse on the ring. He wore it again. Soon afterwards, he fell ill and died. One of Valentinos friends inherited the ring. She, too, became ill, but quickly gave the ring away to a young artist. She recovered from her illness almost immediately. The artist, however, was killed in a car accident while wearing the ring. So was the next person to wear it. Then the ring was stolen. A policeman tracked down the thief and raised his gun to fire a warning shot. Although he was an excellent marksman, the gun slipped and the bullet hit the thief, killing him accidentally. Now no one wanted to own the ring, so it was put in a bank. The bank, which had never been robbed before, was robbed twice. During the second robbery, several passersby were killed. Nobody knows where the ring is now — which is probably just as well.
