6The Cure Patsy was in the hospital. Her friend Mary went to see her. She found her lying in bed, covered with bandages. Patsy! Mary said. What happened to you? When I woke up this morning, Patsy said, I had a headache. A headache! Yes. So I went to see the doctor. You look as if youve broken every bone in your body! Mary said. I know, and I have — well, almost. How did it happen? Well, I told my doctor about my headache, and he said I needed more exercise, so I went for a walk in the park. The park isnt dangerous, Mary said. Its beautiful there. Well, yes, but as I was looking up at a bird in a tree I tripped and fell down. I twisted my ankle and couldnt walk. Someone called an ambulance. But you dont need all those bandages for a twisted ankle, Mary said. Oh, I know that, Patsy said. The problem was that the ambulance men put me on a stretcher. Then as they were lifting me into the ambulance, I fell off the stretcher and broke my leg. But why have you got bandages around your arm? Mary asked. Well, when I got to the hospital, the doctor gave me some medicine to stop the pain in my leg and I fell asleep. Unfortunately, he made a mistake with my name. And another doctor operated on your arm! Mary said. Thats right, Patsy said. But I shouldnt complain. My own doctor was right. The walk in the park was good for me. My headache has completely gone now.
