Abstract : Two rice varieties wit h different tolerance to salinit y and alkalinit y were plant ed in four nat ural salinealkali
soil s f rom different area s in t he west of J ilin Province wit h pot exp eriment . Under salinealkali st ress , leaf area index wa s de
crea sed , and t he decrea sing rat e was lar ger in J inongda 10 ( su scep tible variet y) t han t hat in 8945 (tolerant variet y) . Saline
alkali st r ess reduced effective tiller number and led to low grain yield of rice .
