Student Presentations on the history of writings

Team presentations
- 75 minutes (a whole class)
- Each presentation must have an introduction part that explains the “big picture” of the relevant period (representative literary works, popular genres, political/sociological backgrounds, etc.)
- In the main body of the presentation, the presenters discuss certain fragments of writings in the relevant period, with a special attention to linguistic traits (vocabulary, grammar, writing style, etc.) reflected in the discussed material.
- It is up to the presenters to choose what texts to discuss. You may take up small fragments from many different genres (poetry, novel, public record, personal correspondence, etc.), or concentrate on one or two genre.
- It is up to each team how to divide the labor. It is okay, for example, to have three mini-presentations with continuous themes.
- The presenters must bring an enough number of legible copies for of the discussed texts (or excerpts thereof). Use of other visuals is of course welcome.
- After the presentation, each team must turn in (i) a hard copy or electronic copy of the presented material, and (ii) a list of references you looked up when preparing the presentation.
Individual presentations
- 35 minutes (half a class)
- The presenter must bring an enough number of legible copies of the discussed texts (or excerpts thereof). Use of other visuals is of course welcome.
- After the presentation, the presenter must turn in (i) a hard copy or electronic copy of the presented material, and (ii) a list of references you looked up when preparing the presentation.
